You can really see the outcome of doing Arts and Crafts. Projects range from a heirloom, and or a garage sale find, With Re-upholstery you can complete a project without, all of the fancy tools. Picking thru thirft stores, you can find quality furniture. I have found furniture by noted makers, like Stickley and Heyward Wakefield. These items are waiting for a rebirthing. You can help save our planet by reusing your newly found treasures. Most furniture items, only require simple recovering. We live in a throw-away society, and its always another man's treasure. Reupholstery does not require a degree. You can simply sew,and tack-on new fabric. Using the old pattern, to make new patterns. Cutting new foam cushions, reglueing or repairing springs. Over the years, some of my customer's have redone their own dining seats,and kitchen chairs. Fabric is easy to find ! and cheap. You can start as a hobby, or build a new career. Lots of furniture needs to be recovered, and often cannot be replaced cheaply. Booth seats, Automobile seats, Doctor exam tables, Banquet chairs, Boat seats, Bar railings, Zippers replaced. The business is recession proof. You will always find furniture to repair. Start small in your home, and work your own hours. Get paid when you are finished. Even get a 50% deposit to finance materials.
